MADRID, OPEN TO THE SWING CITY

From May 23rd to 26th, swing takes to the streets, making the Madrid Lindy Exchange an event open to everyone. The swing will be the lead and will mark the rhythm of the city during a long weekend in which hoppers from all places, schools and musicians will share experience with amateurs and will awaken the curiosity of many.

In our proposal we couldn’t miss the street dancing in the open and free spaces, which are already part of the identity of MAD for Swing. The open program invites curious and amateurs to join our party by sharing the rhythms of swing in two fundamental scenarios for the leisure life of our vibrant city: the Templo de Debod and Centro Conde Duque.

On THURSDAY 23, between 22:00 and 23.45, the Welcome party in the South Patio of Conde Duque. Lively social dance with live music by the Spirits Jazz Band.

Before, as an appetiser, a talk on musical improvisation with musicians from the bands that will play in Madrid Lindy Exchange.

19:30 – 21:00 h. Talk about «Improvisation» lead by Enric Peidro. Salón de actos. Free acccess, limited capacity.

On SATURDAY 25th, between 12:00 and 16:30 h., don’t miss the
Morning activities at the Templo de Debod park with activities for all audiences:
12.00 – 14.30h Swing in the Temple

  • 12:00 – 12:40 h. Taster: «Take your feet off the ground» with A Ritmo de Swing.
  • 12:40 – 14:30 h. Social dancing with live music: Hot Templars

14:30 – 16:30 h Picnic next to the temple. Bring your own food and drinks to share with others.

On SUNDAY 26th in Centro Conde Duque again, more activities on our open to the public closing day with live music, tasters and dance floor.

  • 12:00 – 12:40 h. Taster «Tap trickeration» by TJ Jazz
  • 12:40 – 13:00 h. Competitions Award Ceremony.
  • 13:00 – 14:30 h. Social dancing with live music: La Banda del Ángel Caído.

18:00 – 21:30 h. Farewell party with live music: Les Pompettes and selected DJs.

And if in between so much activity you still find space to fill your stomach and enjoy the gastronomic pleasures of Madrid, very close to our stages you will find proposals for every taste.

Very close to Conde Duque, one of the best-brewed beers in Madrid awaits you at El Cangrejero, Calle Amaniel, 25. You can continue with the tapas at the Taberna de la Casta, Callejón del Cristo, 1. If you prefer brunch with American flavour and craft beer, the tables of Roll Madrid await for you in Amaniel, 21. Closer to the Templo de Debod you can eat finger food or portions in Txirimiri, Calle Ferraz, 38 or a la carte in Cuenllas, Ferraz, 3.

If you are going to have the hearty meals and you dare with one of the specialties of our cuisine, the cocido, the legendary tavern La Bola, or the Lhardy restaurant, await you at the heart of Madrid.

Nearby, in the Chueca area, some not to miss spaces await for you such as the Taberna Carmencita, Angelita or La buena Vida among others.

In the lively district of Las Letras, Alimentación Quiroga, Bistronomika, Triciclo and much more variety.

If tapas are your thing and you want to get to know the Retiro Park, a route through its surroundings will take you to one of the most fashionable and appetizing areas of the city.
