BANDAS DE LA FIESTA DEL SÁBADO EN EL CÍRCULO DE BELLAS ARTES: EL MOLINO BIG BAND

El Molino Big Band es ya una de las big bands consagradas de la escena madrileña.
Comienza su andadura en el 2011, de la mano de uno de los jazzmen norteamericanos de más prestigio que hay en Madrid, el saxofonista Bob Sands, en la escuela de artes El Molino. En este centro, se mezclan tanto profesionales del jazz como instrumentistas amateur deseosos de aprender todos los rincones de la música. Varios de los integrantes de la big band son a su vez profesores de este centro de educación musical.

El Molino Big Band trabaja semana a semana desde hace 7 años para conseguir un sonido puro, limpio, empastado, y que se ajuste lo más posible al gran legado que nos han dejado las big bands a lo largo de la historia.
Su repertorio está constituido esencialmente por composiciones de los años 30 a 50, edad dorada de las Big Bands, cuando el ocio de la población norteamericana era salir a bailar al ritmo de los acordes tan festivos que emitían las orquestas de Count Basie o Duke Ellington, entre otros.

Ha actuado en festivales de jazz y swing (Lindy Exchange de Madrid, La Noche Toledana…), así como en los lugares más emblemáticos de difusión del jazz de Madrid (Café Berlín, Galileo Galilei, Clamores Jazz, Sala Caracol). También colabora con la compañía de claqué Onemoretap, elaborando espectáculos que mezclan la música y el baile (en este caso, el tap) con espectáculos en San Juan Evangelista, el teatro San Pol de Madrid, entre otros.

Actualmente, El Molino Big Band está centrada de una manera más exclusiva a arreglos musicales de los años treinta (incluso tardíos 20) con grandes clásicos del repertorio de baile de estilo sweet band para traer el auténtico sonido de las orquestas de Artie Shaw, Glenn Miller, Harry James, Benny Goodman…

SATURDAY PARTY BANDS IN CÍRCULO DE BELLAS ARTES: EL MOLINO BIG BAND

El Molino Big Band is already one of the big bands devoted to the Madrid swing scene.

It begins in 2011, by the hand of one of the most prestigious North American jazzmen in Madrid, the saxophonist Bob Sands, at El Molino arts school. In this centre, both jazz professionals and amateur musicians mix up with the desire to learn all the corners of music. Several of the members of the big band are in turn teachers of this music education centre.

El Molino Big Band has been working week after week for 7 years to achieve a pure clean, matted sound and that fits as much as possible to the great legacy that big bands have left us throughout history.

Its repertoire consists essentially of compositions from the 30s to 50s, golden age of the Big Bands, when the leisure of the North American population was to dance to the rhythm of the festive chords that played the orchestras of Count Baise or Duke Ellington, among others.

It has performed in jazz and swing festivals (Madrid Lindy Exchange, La Noche Toledada …) as well as in the most emblematic places of jazz promotion in Madrid (Café Berlin, Galileo Galilei, Clamores Jazz, Sala Caracol). It also collaborates with the tap company Onemoretap, performing shows that mix music and dance (in this case tap) with shows in San Juan Evangelista or San Pol Theater in Madrid, among others.

Currently, El Molino Big Band is focused more exclusively on musical arrangements from the thirties (even late 20s) with great classics of the sweet band style repertoire to bring the authentic sound of Artie Shaw’s orchestras, Glenn Miller, Harry James, Benny Goodman…
